Job Purpose

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical professional with deep expertise in Neurosciences. MSLs provide scientific insights, facilitate exchanges with scientific experts, and influence Lilly’s research and medical strategies.

The role bridges Lilly and the scientific community, addressing clinical and scientific questions and shaping healthcare advancements through credible and unbiased medical information.


Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain and Communicate Scientific Expertise

  • Continuously learn to maintain technical expertise in Neuroscience.

  • Answer deep scientific questions and establish credibility with customers.

  • Serve as a trusted source of accurate, unbiased, and up-to-date medical knowledge.

2. Customer Engagement and Support

  • Engage in field-based, customer-facing interactions with scientific experts.

  • Conduct 2-way dialogues to support medical and scientific information needs.

  • Connect experts with internal Lilly resources and identify potential collaborative research opportunities.

3. Strategic Vision and Leadership

  • Synthesize complex data and communicate meaningful clinical insights.

  • Provide feedback from customer interactions to cross-functional teams.

  • Make principle-based decisions independently or escalate when needed.

  • Contribute to medical planning and strategy in the affiliate.

4. Territory Ownership

  • Strategically analyze, plan, and prioritize territory activities for maximum impact.

  • Implement and evaluate territory plans while taking accountability for results.

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, policies, and laws.


Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (MBBS / MD / PhD) in a medically related field.

  • Previous MSL or field-based experience building relationships with Scientific Experts and KOLs in Neurosciences.

  • Experience servicing customer needs for complex medical information.

  • Strong networking and professional relationship-building skills.

  • Familiarity with health systems, academic institutions, medical research, and medical education processes.

Desired Skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 80% across southern and western India; occasional weekend work may be required.

  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to comprehend and communicate complex scientific content effectively.

  • Self-directed, able to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Advanced presentation and computer skills, including literature identification.

  • Strategic and critical thinking to evaluate information and determine its impact.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Resiliency in handling complex challenges.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.
