🧭 Job Summary
Manage and support a team of Clinical Data Management (CDM) professionals to efficiently produce high-quality databases and deliverables that meet internal and external customer requirements.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
📊 Data Management Operations
Provide expert review and guidance on CDM deliverables including:
CRF/eCRF design
Database setup and validation
Data Management Plan (DMP)
Final database deliverables
Offer technical advice and solutions to improve processes and solve problems.
Ensure compliance with SOPs, work instructions, and project scope.
👥 People Management
Conduct bi-monthly 1:1 meetings with direct reports to review:
Project status, timelines, and risks
Utilization rates and workload
Compliance with training and SOP requirements
Career development, objectives, and personnel issues
Mentor staff to develop expertise in data management and clinical systems.
Identify training and development needs of team members.
Implement plans to improve employee engagement with global consistency.
🤝 Cross-functional Collaboration
Work with project leads on:
Scheduling and staffing
Resource planning and peak workload management
Technological needs and global alignment
Represent CDM in internal/external meetings including:
Bid defenses
Kick-off meetings (KOMs)
RFI/RFP responses and budget planning
Communicate effectively between leadership and teams (both upward and downward).
Ensure team readiness and participation in audits and inspections.
🔄 Backup and Continuity
Act as backup for direct reports during absence or attrition, or ensure coverage is in place.
📚 Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical, Biological, Mathematical Sciences or related field, or nursing qualification required.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in clinical data management, including people management.
(Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.)
🧠 Skills & Competencies
Advanced knowledge of clinical data management systems and processes
In-depth understanding of the clinical drug development lifecycle
Proven team leadership and staff management skills
Strong communication, mentoring, and coaching abilities
Solid organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Demonstrated ability in decision-making, problem-solving, and risk mitigation
Familiarity with project financials:
EAC (Estimate at Completion)
Forecasting and burn-rate monitoring
Identifying and managing out-of-scope (OOS) situations
Experience with metrics, performance evaluation, and team development
Comfortable working in a matrix service delivery environment
