Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager – Biotechnology to lead the Downstream Process Development group within our Biological Drug Substance Unit. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in recombinant protein and monoclonal antibody purification, process scale-up, and GMP-compliant production.
The role combines scientific expertise, operational management, and team leadership to ensure timely delivery of purified clinical batches and downstream processes.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and lead the downstream group for development, scale-up, and GMP production of recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies.
Plan, design, and monitor downstream processes, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality, and budget.
Demonstrate expertise in chromatography systems, TFF (Tangential Flow Filtration), and filtration systems.
Interpret experimental, analytical, and process data to drive process improvements.
Develop, review, and maintain scientific documentation, including BMRs, SOPs, investigational protocols, and technical reports.
Mentor junior scientists and associates, providing technical guidance and scientific expertise in downstream processing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize process efficiency and scalability.
Required Skills & Competencies
Deep understanding of downstream process development for large molecules, recombinant proteins, and monoclonal antibodies.
Strong experience in process scale-up, analytical data interpretation, and GMP-compliant operations.
Proficiency in documenting processes, protocols, and regulatory reports.
Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a laboratory and production environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: M.Tech, M.Sc., or PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related Biochemical Sciences.
Experience: 12–15 years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical downstream process development and GMP operations.
