We are seeking an experienced Lead Azure Data Engineer to lead enterprise-scale data engineering initiatives and mentor a team of Azure data professionals. This role is critical to designing, building, and governing modern cloud-based data platforms supporting pharmaceutical and life sciences operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Azure Data Engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and delivery oversight.

  • Design, develop, and optimize cloud-based data architectures using Microsoft Azure services.

  • Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Databricks, and PySpark.

  • Implement and manage Azure Databricks solutions, including Delta Live Tables (DLT), Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, and Workflows.

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries across Azure and other relational databases to support analytics and reporting needs.

  • Ensure adherence to SDLC best practices, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality standards using Azure DevOps and GitHub.

  • Translate business and stakeholder requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with enterprise data governance frameworks.

  • Support production environments serving multiple clients within regulated and compliance-driven industries.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data management frameworks and enterprise analytics solutions.

  • Troubleshoot complex data pipeline and platform issues, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.


Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of overall IT experience, with minimum 5 years in a lead role managing or mentoring Azure Data Engineering teams.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in database development and data integration initiatives.

  • 5+ years of experience building ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and cloud-native data processing.

  • Proven experience working in production environments for multiple clients, preferably within regulated industries.

  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and process-driven delivery models.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder management capabilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical or life sciences data platforms, including field operations and commercial analytics.

  • Exposure to CRM and data-centric platforms such as Salesforce, Veeva, or similar systems; Veeva Network experience is an advantage.

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools and data warehousing solutions.

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Certifications preferred:

    • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)

    • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
