LabCorp is seeking an Associate Chemist to join its Mass Spectrometry team in Burlington, NC. The role involves working in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment, supporting LabCorp’s mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives.”


Work Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: Thursday – Sunday, 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM

  • Shift Differential: Eligible for 10% due to 2nd shift hours

Job Responsibilities

  • Review and certify LC/MS data using Analyst and Ascent software

  • Determine data acceptability and upload results

  • Verify calibration, quality controls, and patient data, including result entry

  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation (GC, GC-MS, HPLC, UPLC-MS/MS, and other lab equipment)

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument issues; recognize significant changes in instrument function

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples

  • Participate in development of new analytical procedures

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures per departmental SOPs

  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving

  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors

  • Provide guidance to technical staff on analysis and interpretation of results

  • Assist with training and orientation of new employees

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience

  • Experience with chromatographic data review preferred, not required

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory and/or department functions

  • Ability to exercise judgment in methods and procedures for new assignments

  • Proficient with computers and familiar with laboratory information systems

  • High attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Must pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed
