About the Role
LabCorp, a global leader in clinical laboratory services, is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to join our Generalist Lab team at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. This position is ideal for detail-oriented, process-driven professionals with a passion for leadership and operational excellence. You will work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment while contributing to LabCorp’s mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives.”

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the department, ensuring adherence to turnaround times (TAT) and regional goals.

  • Provide technical and operational support to ensure accurate and timely test results.

  • Directly supervise, mentor, and train laboratory personnel to foster professional growth.

  • Monitor workflow and staffing to ensure coverage across all shifts.

  • Investigate and resolve production errors, escalating issues when necessary.

  • Drive continuous process improvement and service-level enhancements.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment through proper quality control procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to laboratory processes and procedures.

  • Conduct regular coaching and performance reviews with direct reports.

  • Perform bench work as needed, maintaining technical proficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including CLIA and CAP.

  • Administer departmental policies, procedures, payroll, and personnel records.

  • Perform administrative tasks to support laboratory operations.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical or Biological Science, or meeting local CLIA/state regulatory requirements.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Technician.

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is required.

  • ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist is mandatory.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, and state regulations).

  • Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the role and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
