Lab Assistant II – Orthopedic Surgery | UCLA Health – Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary

UCLA Health is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant II to support the Soragni Laboratory in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. This is a full-time, career-track position ideal for candidates passionate about basic cancer biology, organoid modeling, and laboratory research support. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in maintaining laboratory workflows and supporting critical cancer research.
Salary Range: $22.02–$25.90 per hour.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, grow, and screen organoid cultures

  • Process specimens for 2D and 3D cell culture

  • Perform basic immunohistochemistry and cancer biology techniques

  • Assist in assay development

  • Maintain accurate lab databases and records

  • Manage laboratory inventory and general maintenance


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in 2D/3D cell culture techniques

  • Knowledge of basic cancer biology protocols and immunohistochemistry

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage lab records

  • Familiarity with organoid models and cell line maintenance

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, or related field preferred

  • Previous lab experience in academic or healthcare settings is a plus
