Position Overview:
The Analytical Scientist will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the Synthetic Molecule Design and Development (SMDD) and Bioproduct Research and Development (BRD) Analytical organizations. The role involves evaluating the stability of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and dosage forms, supporting clinical trials, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The individual will also work on developing and executing analytical methods for oral and parenteral products, contributing to the development of Lilly’s product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Analytical Method Development & Execution:
Develop and execute analytical methods for evaluating API and dosage forms.
Work with a variety of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, ELISA, LC-MS, and others.
Conduct testing, evaluation, and release/disposition of raw materials and excipients.
Troubleshoot, validate, and transfer methods to manufacturing and third-party labs.
Support for Product Development:
Assist in stability testing and evaluate stability data to support clinical trials and commercial products.
Conduct activities related to pediatric products, line extensions, and product launches.
Work with small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, peptides, and other complex biopharmaceuticals.
Regulatory and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with cGMP, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
Author regulatory documents and participate in audits.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth project deliverables.
Maintain professional relationships with partners across geographical locations.
Support inspection readiness and audit activities.
Data Management and Reporting:
Utilize tools like Power BI, Python, and databases for data analysis and reporting.
Author and track change controls, ensuring proper documentation of laboratory investigations and data integrity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
M.S. with 1-5 years of experience, or a B.S. with 3-5 years of experience in the analytical department of a pharmaceutical company.
Experience:
Experience in developing API or dosage products for clinical or commercial use in a pharmaceutical setting.
Skills:
Proficiency in analytical techniques like HPLC, GC, LC-MS, and others.
Familiarity with regulatory standards and good documentation practices.
Experience with data integrity review and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Python).
Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
Additional Preferences:
Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques and biopharmaceutical product types (small molecules, peptides, proteins, etc.).
Ability to manage project deliverables effectively and independently.
Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
