Role Overview

As the Global Publications Lead, you will shape and drive the global publication strategy for the rare disease portfolio. You will lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely, high-quality scientific publications that support the communication of clinical research and accelerate access to therapies for patients with rare diseases.

You will oversee end-to-end publication planning, execution, and compliance while ensuring scientific integrity and alignment with global medical strategy.


Key Responsibilities

1. Publication Strategy & Planning

  • Chair Publication Planning Group (PPG) meetings

  • Align cross-functional stakeholders on publication priorities and timelines

  • Drive decision-making on authorship and publication strategy

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive publication plans

2. Publication Execution & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead end-to-end execution of publication plans

  • Oversee primary manuscripts, secondary analyses, and pooled analyses

  • Manage full publication lifecycle:

    • Concept development

    • Author coordination

    • Journal submission

    • Peer-review response management

    • Post-publication activities

3. Scientific Communication & Congress Deliverables

  • Coordinate development of congress materials:

    • Abstracts

    • Posters

    • Oral presentations

    • Publication extenders

  • Ensure alignment with medical and scientific strategy

4. Compliance & Quality Standards

  • Ensure adherence to:

    • GPP (Good Publication Practice)

    • ICMJE guidelines

    • Internal SOPs

  • Maintain high standards of scientific integrity and transparency

5. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with:

    • Key opinion leaders (KOLs)

    • Internal medical writers

    • External agencies

  • Oversee contracting and budget management

6. Training & Capability Building

  • Guide internal stakeholders on publication best practices

  • Provide training on authorship criteria and publication ethics


Department Overview

Product & Portfolio Strategy (P&PS)

  • Drives commercial strategy, medical affairs, and business development across therapy areas

  • Acts as a strategic connector across global and local markets

  • Ensures successful portfolio development and launch execution

Rare Disease Medical Communications & Publications Team

  • Part of Rare Disease (RareD) department under P&PS GBS, Bangalore

  • Focused on global rare disease portfolio communication

  • Works closely with global and local markets

  • Emphasizes quality, innovation, collaboration, and impact


Candidate Profile

Education

  • Master’s degree or PhD in relevant fields such as:

    • Endocrinology

    • General Practice

    • Internal Medicine

    • Other clinically relevant disciplines

Experience

  • 4–6 years in publication management (pharma, STM publishing, or medical communications)

  • 4+ years in project management with multi-stakeholder coordination

  • Experience in clinical/scientific research environment preferred

  • ISMPP CMPP certification (preferred)

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • GPP4 guidelines

    • ICMJE requirements

    • Scientific publication processes

  • Experience with Datavision (super user/admin level preferred)

  • Understanding of scientific communication principles
