Global Program Clinical Head – Oncology (USA)

Job Summary:

Novartis is seeking a dynamic and visionary Global Program Clinical Head (GPCH) to lead oncology clinical development strategies across global teams. Based in East Hanover, New Jersey, or remotely, this role demands clinical leadership, strategic development planning, cross-functional team collaboration, and global regulatory preparedness. This position is ideal for an MD with extensive drug development experience and a passion for transforming cancer treatment globally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the clinical development strategy across multiple oncology programs.

  • Oversee the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) in line with the Target Product Profile (TPP).

  • Lead cross-functional teams involving Medical Directors, Trial Directors, Safety Leaders, Regulatory Directors, and Biostatisticians.

  • Drive the creation of clinical content for study protocols, IBs, CSRs, and regulatory documents.

  • Represent the clinical function in interactions with regulatory authorities, KOLs, and internal boards.

  • Ensure continuous safety evaluation in collaboration with Patient Safety teams.

  • Support product registration, market access, and maintenance of licenses globally.

  • Guide publication and communication strategies alongside Medical Affairs and Medical Writing teams.

  • Drive innovation in clinical development and study design for Oncology indications.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • MD (mandatory) with 6+ years of clinical research/drug development experience in Phases I–IV.

  • Deep expertise in Oncology drug development and innovative trial design.

  • Strong understanding of GCP, regulatory submission processes, and data interpretation.

  • Proven leadership in managing global, matrixed, cross-functional teams.

  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and advisory boards.

  • Strategic thinker with a strong track record in evidence generation and clinical decision-making.
