Position Overview

The FSP Senior Epidemiologist (Inflammation) designs and conducts epidemiological studies to generate real-world evidence (RWE). This includes studies on disease natural history, treatment patterns, outcomes benchmarking, and post-authorization research. The role involves collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to support RWE strategy and deliver methodologically robust evidence.


Key Responsibilities

Study Design & Execution

  • Design and conduct epidemiological studies within time, budget, and quality standards.

  • Construct cohorts using real-world data (RWD) sources such as claims and EHR databases.

  • Evaluate key variables and plan validation studies as needed.

  • Conduct descriptive and comparative research analyses using RWD.

Documentation & Communication

  • Support the development of study protocols, analysis plans, and study reports.

  • Contribute to regulatory documents, reports, publications, and white papers.

  • Communicate study results to support internal and external decision-making.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Develop processes and training to improve efficiency, quality, and impact of functional activities.

  • Co-author abstracts and manuscripts for external dissemination.

  • Manage stakeholders, including external vendors and internal cross-functional teams.


Qualifications

Education:

  • PhD in Epidemiology or related field with ≥4 years of post-doctoral experience (preferred in pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting).

  • Master’s degree with ≥7 years of relevant experience may be acceptable.

Experience & Skills:

  • Expertise in observational research methods, including study design, protocol, statistical analysis plan, and study report development.

  • Knowledge of secondary data sources and experience analyzing EMR and/or medical claims databases.

  • Experience with commercially available US datasets; OMOP datasets desirable.

  • Background in chronic autoimmune inflammatory conditions (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, lupus, asthma) preferred.

  • Track record of scientific publications demonstrating expertise in observational research.

  • Ability to function with autonomy, manage priorities, and collaborate cross-functionally in a matrix environment.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $110,500 – $276,100 per year (annualized)

  • Actual pay may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, and schedule.

  • Incentives, bonuses, and a range of health and welfare benefits may also be offered.
