Role Summary

The Executive Director, Clinical Data Technology Platforms is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing large-scale clinical data and technology transformation programs across Development functions.

The role ensures strategic alignment, operational excellence, and cross-functional integration across major platforms such as IDR, CDP, RBQM, Digital Protocol, NextGen Development Data Platform, and SCAPE.

This position also contributes to enterprise-level decision-making and may represent the ASCEND Strategy & Transformation leadership when required.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Program Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end execution of large-scale transformation programs (e.g., IDR, CDP, RBQM, NextGen Data Platform, Cloudscapes)

  • Ensure alignment across Development and enterprise functions

  • Drive cohesive strategy across clinical data and technology platforms


2. Technology Transformation & Standardization

  • Define and implement integrated, scalable technology solutions

  • Drive standardized approaches for clinical data systems and platforms

  • Ensure end-to-end solution design across programs


3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with ASCEND chapter leads and global stakeholders

  • Translate strategic objectives into executable program plans

  • Enable alignment across scientific, technical, and business teams


4. AI & Digital Innovation

  • Champion adoption of AI and GenAI technologies

  • Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives

  • Align solutions with enterprise AI strategy and digital transformation goals


5. Program Governance & Delivery Excellence

  • Ensure quality and consistency of program deliverables and documentation

  • Monitor execution, delivery status, risks, and dependencies

  • Drive transparent communication for decision-making support


6. Risk & Resource Management

  • Identify resource gaps and operational risks

  • Propose mitigation strategies

  • Escalate critical issues to ensure program continuity


7. Leadership & Organizational Influence

  • Provide executive leadership across multiple global initiatives

  • Coach and guide cross-functional teams

  • Foster a high-performance, innovation-driven culture


8. External & Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Lead complex cross-functional and external collaborations

  • Influence senior stakeholders and executive leadership

  • Bridge scientific, operational, and technical domains


Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 20+ years of cross-industry experience

  • ~10+ years in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry

  • Extensive leadership in global, cross-functional environments

  • Proven track record in large-scale technology transformation programs


Core Expertise

  • Portfolio and program management at enterprise scale

  • Strategic planning, execution, and governance

  • Clinical development technology systems and platforms
