Job Summary:
Optum, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking an Electronic Health Record Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong Epic or Cerner system experience to join its team in Letterkenny, Ireland. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in global healthcare transformation by providing subject matter expertise across digital healthcare projects. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work from both our Letterkenny office and your home-based office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead medium to large-scale Epic upgrade initiatives or workflow enhancements across design, build, and test phases

  • Provide hands-on configuration, design, and testing for Epic modules

  • Collaborate with clinical and operational users to optimize system functionality

  • Conduct design/validation sessions and ensure timely issue escalation and documentation

  • Deliver technical consultation and assess system needs to provide tailored recommendations

  • Mentor junior team members and guide project-specific configuration

  • Analyze workflows, reporting needs, and data collection for system efficiency

  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders through project life cycles

Required Experience:

  • Current/active Epic or Cerner certification in at least one area

  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows such as documentation, patient flow, portals, etc.

  • Proven success managing new applications or project areas independently

  • Experience with task-level resource management and application-specific work plans

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mentorship experience within technical or clinical teams

  • Familiarity with project management tools and methods

  • Effective communication skills with clients, vendors, clinicians, and technical staff

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and lead cross-functional teams

Working Arrangements:

  • Hybrid work model: split time between Letterkenny office and home

  • Some flexibility in hours, especially during initial training or US-client collaboration

  • Occasional after-hours work may be required for emergencies or deployments
