Director of Fertility Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) – Field

Position Overview

EMD Serono is seeking a dynamic Director of Fertility MSLs to lead, coach, and mentor the U.S. Fertility MSL team. This field-based leadership role reports to the Head of U.S. Field Medical and is integral to driving strategic direction, optimizing Medical Affairs field initiatives, and ensuring MSL excellence in Fertility. The Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to advance scientific engagement, enhance patient outcomes, and achieve company objectives in line with our global mission: United As One for Patients.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute the strategic direction for U.S. Field Medical initiatives and MSL activities in Fertility, aligned with brand, launch, and therapeutic area objectives.

  • Support brand and launch teams and the U.S. Medical Affairs Fertility leadership in planning and implementing TA, Launch, and Brand strategies, ensuring compliance.

  • Consolidate, analyze, and communicate trends, market insights, and unmet needs identified in the field.

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the implementation of Medical Affairs strategic imperatives through MSL activities.

  • Track, monitor, and report on MSL performance and program outcomes to leadership.

  • Develop and deliver training materials and tools to enhance MSL effectiveness.

  • Guide MSLs in developing territory Medical plans and building long-term, high-impact relationships with HCPs and KOLs.

  • Manage talent acquisition, retention, career path development, performance management, and merit processes for the MSL team.

  • Support company-sponsored and investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) as needed.

  • Ensure operational excellence and adherence to SOPs, compliance, and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Medical Affairs, Drug Safety, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Finance to align strategic plans.

  • Partner with regional and national directors across therapeutic areas to share expertise, initiatives, and outcomes.

  • Engage with the Fertility medical community, including HCPs, external experts, patient organizations, and other healthcare stakeholders.

  • Represent EMD Serono at medical events, meetings, programs, and congresses.

  • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing across internal stakeholders to inform medical and cross-functional initiatives.


Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, DO with 5+ years in Field Medical Affairs
    OR
    NP/PA with 6+ years in Field Medical Affairs or equivalent clinical/medical experience in Fertility.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field medical teams.

  • Strong expertise in Fertility and reproductive medicine.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 60% and manage field-based teams effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in Fertility.

  • Proven experience in managerial responsibilities in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Advanced knowledge of Fertility therapeutic area and strategic Medical Affairs operations.

  • Ability to foster a high-performance culture through mentorship, coaching, and professional development.

  • Commitment to ethical standards, innovation, and patient-centered decision-making.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: USD 188,500 – 282,700 (determined by experience, education, and location)

  • Eligible for performance-based or sales incentives.

  • Benefits include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and additional perks.
