🎯 Role Purpose
The Director – AI/ML Portfolio Management Systems & Capabilities will serve as the technical lead driving the innovation agenda of the Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) organization.
This includes:
Designing and developing AI/ML tools and visualizations
Automating processes to improve operational effectiveness
Partnering across PMET, PMSC, and Tech@Lilly
Leading the integration, scaling, and long-term ownership of data-driven solutions
🧠 Primary Responsibilities
1. Design, Development & Testing of Tools & Visualizations
Lead design, development, and delivery of advanced tools and dashboards aligned with the PPM innovation strategy
Identify and escalate project risks, issues, and data quality concerns
Anticipate future stakeholder needs and adjust solutions accordingly
Stay updated on emerging technologies, influencing strategic innovation
2. Integration & Ownership of Tools
Lead integration of tools and dashboards into production systems
Drive adoption through clear communication and strong business understanding
Own continuous improvement: feedback loops, product backlog, and release cycles
Align release plans with business processes and operational calendars
3. Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead a high-performing, collaborative AI/ML engineering team
Provide coaching, feedback, performance management, and mentorship
Align team priorities with organizational technology strategy and business roadmap
Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement
🎓 Minimum Qualification Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in:
Technical science
Computer science
Engineering
Statistics
Or related field
Experience
Minimum 12 years hands-on computer science/engineering experience
Minimum 6 years experience in ML engineering or applied AI
Proven experience building tools/visualizations to improve organizational efficiency
Expertise in:
Data analysis & visualization tools: Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate
MS Fabric, Tableau, Excel
Python, R, R Shiny
AWS, SQL
Strong knowledge of data architecture, data integration, visualization, and warehousing
Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications
Strong analytical, interpretation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments
High learning agility
Role based in Bengaluru, India
⭐ Additional Preferences
Advanced degrees or industry certifications
Experience in pharmaceutical drug development
Hands-on experience with Power Platform, MS Fabric
Familiarity with resource planning & forecasting systems (Planisware, Veeva, etc.)
Experience with project/code management methods: Agile, Waterfall
Knowledge of coding standards, code reviews, GitHub, CI/CD processes
Demonstrated process improvement and project management skills
Willingness to travel (0–10%, domestic or international)
