AstraZeneca's vision in Oncology is to redefine the cancer-treatment paradigm, aiming to deliver six new cancer medicines to patients between 2013 and 2020. Our robust pipeline focuses on four principal disease areas—breast, ovarian, lung, and hematological cancers—through key platforms like immunotherapy, genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, all supported by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

As a Medical Affairs Diagnostic Executive, you will use your medical, diagnostic, and clinical test expertise to impact a global pharmaceutical company significantly. You will facilitate the adoption of testing in your assigned territory, ensuring seamless access to necessary diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify barriers to cancer biomarker testing by engaging with testing laboratories, diagnostic kit companies, and healthcare professionals (HCPs).
  • Execute tactical plans in your territory to increase the adoption of appropriate testing.
  • Monitor testing and test failure rates in the territory.
  • Develop relationships with pathologists, molecular pathologists, diagnostics kit suppliers, scientific experts, laboratory decision-makers, and thought leaders.
  • Develop robust testing facilities in strategic centers, including protocol support, bottleneck removal, and performance monitoring.
  • Generate demand through education, awareness, and advocacy.
  • Provide insights to core medical teams to inform and shape local strategies.
  • Adhere to AstraZeneca's Code of Conduct, Policy Handbook, Standards, and SOPs, and comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Core medical team, including brand medical leads
  • Brand teams, in coordination with the Diagnostic lead

External Engagement:

  • Healthcare professionals, including oncologists and pathologists
  • Diagnostic partners—labs
  • Advocacy and professional associations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences, Medical Biotechnology, or Pharmacy
  • Experience in molecular diagnostic marketing and clinical test selling, preferably in oncology (lung cancer, women's cancer, immunotherapy)
  • Ability to discuss scientific content with various audiences
  • Willingness to travel (>50%, varies by geography)

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight timelines, resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of diagnostic test development, regulatory environment, and oncology
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional project teams
  • Strong execution focus
