Abbott - Clinical Specialist I, CPT

Position Overview:

Abbott is currently building a candidate slate for a future opening of the Clinical Specialist I, CPT position in New York. The Clinical Specialist will be part of the Neuromodulation business, which includes implantable devices used for chronic pain and movement disorder treatments. This role involves providing technical clinical expertise, supporting the sales process, and building relationships with physicians and other medical staff to promote Abbott's Chronic Pain Therapies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical & Technical Support:

    • Assist 1-2 Territory Managers by providing clinical, programming, and case support.
    • Deliver after-hours support as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build trust and rapport with healthcare providers and customers, integrating Abbott’s products into their practice.
    • Foster long-term relationships with clients to increase product usage and comfort.
  • Education & In-Service:

    • Conduct product education, in-services, and troubleshooting sessions for medical staff.
    • Identify training needs and offer solutions to increase understanding of Abbott’s Chronic Pain Therapies product line.
  • Sales Support & Strategy:

    • Help develop sales strategies for capital equipment opportunities.
    • Monitor competitor activity and report findings to inform sales strategies.
  • Product Feedback & Market Insight:

    • Provide feedback to healthcare providers on product use within and outside the operating room.
    • Attend trade shows and conferences to learn about new technologies and meet with clients.
  • Compliance & Teamwork:

    • Ensure all activities comply with FDA regulations, company policies, and procedures.
    • Maintain positive communication with internal teams, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Travel:

    • Ability to travel approximately 25% within the assigned region or outside the region as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Associate’s Degree or technical certification (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
  • Experience:

    • 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical setting, with a preference for experience in patient interaction (e.g., physical therapy, medical product sales, nursing).
  • Skills:

    • Strong clinical skills with the ability to communicate and educate on complex clinical data related to Chronic Pain Therapies.
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Experience with spinal cord stimulation (SCS) or implantable medical devices is preferred.
    • Experience working in a cross-division enterprise model is a plus.

Compensation:

  • Base Pay Range: $57,300.00 – $114,700.00 (may vary depending on location).
