Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Client Partners – Inpatient Medical Coding (IP/DRG) to join our Pune team. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in hospital coding, DRG systems, and clinical documentation improvement (CDI), who want to work closely with clients and contribute to revenue integrity and operational excellence in healthcare RCM.
As an Inpatient Coding Client Partner, you will review medical records, assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes, support compliance initiatives, and participate in continuous improvement projects to minimize revenue leakage.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain working knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS coding principles, UHDDS guidelines, AHA coding clinic updates, and third-party coding/documentation requirements
Review inpatient and observation medical records, accurately assign diagnosis (ICD-10-CM) and procedure codes (ICD-10-PCS/CPT) with appropriate modifiers
Apply knowledge of MS-DRG, MDC, AP-DRG, APR-DRG, including CC and MCC secondary diagnoses
Utilize Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs to support accurate DRG assignment
Work with encoder tools such as 3M, TruCode, or equivalent hospital coding software
Ensure productivity and quality standards are met, including 95% internal coding accuracy and defined turnaround times
Participate in coding team meetings, training sessions, and educational conferences to maintain and enhance coding knowledge
Conduct refresher and ongoing training programs for coders within the organization
Uphold professional and ethical standards while supporting continuous improvement projects
Experience Required
1 to 4 years of experience in medical coding, preferably with hospital/inpatient coding experience
Candidates with CCS/CIC certification are preferred
Exposure to ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT coding, and DRG systems
Education & Certification
Graduate in Life Sciences or related discipline
Knowledge of medical coding and billing systems, medical terminologies, regulatory requirements, and auditing principles
In-house AAPC/AHIMA certification sponsorship available for eligible coders
Skills & Competencies
