Position Summary:
The Biostatistical Programming Senior Manager will lead and develop programming teams collaborating with epidemiologists and analysts to generate RWE from large healthcare datasets (EHR, claims databases). This leadership role requires expertise in SAS, SQL, and preferably R and Python, with strong project and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical programming solutions within the Centre for Observational Research (CfOR).
Lead programming and process improvement initiatives.
Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and represent programming functions.
Manage programming projects, resources, timelines, and adherence to SOPs.
Write, review, and approve programming plans and analysis dataset specifications.
Develop and validate software programs and macros in Unix.
Oversee outsourced resources and staff recruitment.
Contribute to policy, SOP development, and compliance audits.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in programming and R&D.
Manage team performance and utilization.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications (one of the following):
Doctorate + 2 years relevant experience
Master’s + 8 to 10 years relevant experience
Bachelor’s + 10 to 14 years relevant experience
Diploma + 14 to 18 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years in statistical programming, preferably with RWE data.
Experience managing teams or leading projects in RWE settings.
Familiarity with OMOP common data model.
Expertise with SAS and SQL required; R and Python preferred.
Experience with healthcare claims and EHR datasets (MarketScan, Optum, Flatiron, etc.)
Strong global collaboration and agile project management skills.
Key Competencies:
Advanced SAS programming and statistical knowledge.
Proficient SQL programming; R and Python preferred.
Effective communication skills in English.
Knowledge of RWD, epidemiology, and drug development processes.
