Role Overview

Pfizer is seeking an Associate – Package Design & Development to design, develop, and implement packaging solutions for pharmaceutical products. This role focuses on creating packaging specifications, artworks, and technical support for production and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging design, process development, or related engineering roles.

The Associate will ensure timely project implementation while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards, supporting a consistent supply of Pfizer products to the market.


Key Responsibilities

Packaging Design & Development

  • Design packaging commodities specifications, bill of materials, and artworks for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging components

  • Develop packaging configurations to support production and cross-functional teams

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot packaging processes and materials

  • Create material codes, key line drawings, and dimensions for commercial artwork development

  • Review and approve printed packaging components, including proof/specimen checks

Project & Change Management

  • Initiate and track Change Controls, perform impact assessments, and ensure timely pre-approval and closure

  • Coordinate artwork requests with plant teams, market coordinators, and supply chain for LOCD, artwork centers, and PAR acceptance

  • Prepare, review, and approve machine trial protocols, material evaluation protocols, PPAP documents, and quality risk assessment documentation

Operational & Cross-Functional Support

  • Provide technical support to production-packing teams for new product launches and equipment/machinery integration

  • Support serialization activities and commodity localization projects for primary and secondary packaging

  • Collaborate with site operations, supply chain, procurement, engineering, regulatory, validation, and QA teams to ensure smooth execution of packaging projects

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives on packaging lines

  • Manage documentation, batch packing records, and standard test procedures related to packaging components and processes


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc., M.Sc., BE, or PGD in Packaging Technology (Indian Institute of Packaging preferred)

  • 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging design, packaging engineering, or related technical role

  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, packaging specifications, and regulatory compliance

  • Experience in artwork development, material evaluation, and production support

  • Proficiency with packaging software, documentation systems, and technical drawings

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams


Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with primary and secondary packaging components in a pharmaceutical environment

  • Understanding of packaging process validation, quality risk assessments, and PPAP procedures

  • Knowledge of serialization and labeling regulations

  • Experience in implementing process improvements and cost optimization projects
