Job Summary:

The Associate Medical Coder is responsible for assigning accurate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to inpatient and outpatient medical records. This role supports hospital statistical data, reimbursement accuracy, and regulatory planning. The position requires certification and a strong grasp of medical coding standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records daily per department schedule

  • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes with at least 95% accuracy in selection and sequencing

  • Identify and abstract medical data consistently and accurately

  • Maintain productivity standards for coding and data entry

  • Participate in coding-related meetings and educational sessions

  • Meet deadlines and minimize unnecessary interruptions

  • Be flexible with additional work hours or shift changes

  • Collaborate well with all hospital and departmental staff

  • Join conference calls as needed to support coding activities

  • Understand the impact of coding on hospital operations and reimbursement


Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any discipline

  • Must be a certified medical coder through AAPC or AHIMA

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC (any one)

  • Certification ID proof must be provided during interview/offer process

  • Open to:

    • Certified freshers, or

    • Experienced coders with 0–1 year experience (G23 level)
