Role Overview
The Associate Manager – Scientific Writing will lead end-to-end scientific publication and medical writing activities, ensuring content accuracy, scientific relevance, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves managing complex publication projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining rigorous quality standards across therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end publications management, including publication planning, project execution, and milestone tracking.
Develop, review, and edit scientific content including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, medical slide decks, plain language summaries (PLS), and infographics from clinical study reports, protocols, and other data sources.
Ensure scientific content is accurate, medically relevant, compliant with pharmaceutical regulations, and adheres to branding and publication guidelines.
Define client requirements at project initiation, including SLAs, turnaround times, and deliverables.
Conduct peer reviews and mentor junior medical writers to maintain quality standards.
Manage publication workflows using proprietary tools (e.g., DataVision, PubsHub PM Solution) for version control, project timelines, and coordination.
Coordinate with project leads, graphics teams, and clients as needed to ensure smooth project execution.
Respond to ad-hoc client requests within stipulated timelines and provide fact-checked, high-quality deliverables.
Stay updated with the latest scientific and technical developments across therapeutic areas.
Required Experience & Skills
Experience: 8–12 years in medical writing, publication management, or scientific communications within pharmaceutical companies or medical communications agencies.
Education: M.Pharm, PharmD, Ph.D., or life sciences graduate with relevant publication experience.
Certifications: CMPP certification preferred.
Proficiency in scientific writing, medical communication, and publication planning tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interactions.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with strict adherence to timelines.
Attention to detail and high standards for scientific accuracy.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other project management tools.
