Job Overview

Syngene is seeking an experienced Associate Director – R2R (Financial Reporting) to lead and strengthen its financial reporting and compliance framework. This leadership role reports to the AVP – Finance and is responsible for overseeing record-to-report (R2R) processes, statutory compliance, audit management, and financial reporting in alignment with IFRS, Ind AS, SEBI, and other regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance financial controls with business enablement.

Experience Required

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and financial reporting

  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or listed companies preferred

  • Strong exposure to statutory compliance, audits, IFRS/Ind AS reporting, and SEBI regulations

  • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA is an added advantage

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory

Core Purpose of the Role

The Associate Director will support the Accounting Head in planning and managing finance and accounting functions while ensuring robust internal controls, statutory compliance, and accurate financial reporting. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding financial integrity while supporting organizational growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Audit Management

  • Develop and strengthen accounting processes to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee compliance related to contracts, vendor payments, employee payments, income tax, TDS, GST, RBI, and other statutory norms

  • Manage internal audits, IFCR audits, and assurance activities

  • Address audit observations and ensure timely closure of non-compliances

  • Update policies to reflect changes in financial and regulatory frameworks

  • Ensure timely book closure and SEBI reporting

Financial Reporting & Record-to-Report (R2R)

  • Lead month-end and year-end financial closing processes

  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports

  • Prepare quarterly earnings releases

  • Interpret IFRS and Ind AS accounting standards and draft technical accounting memorandums

  • Manage external auditor communications on financial statements and accounting disclosures

  • Supervise international accounting issues and resolution processes

  • Maintain and implement global accounting policy documentation

  • Drive process improvements to shorten financial close timelines

  • Review AR, provisions, accruals, deferrals, payables, advances, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Manage related party reconciliations and ensure SEBI compliance

Internal Controls & Process Excellence

  • Implement and maintain reporting procedures aligned with internal control frameworks

  • Continuously assess and re-engineer close processes for efficiency

  • Strengthen financial governance and risk mitigation practices

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead and mentor the financial reporting team

  • Monitor team performance, engagement, and retention

  • Provide guidance to ensure achievement of annual operational goals
