Associate Director of Pharmacovigilance (Remote – Ireland/UK)

Job Summary:
Thornshaw Recruitment is hiring an Associate Director of Pharmacovigilance on behalf of a leading Life Sciences consultancy. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in Ireland or the UK. As a senior PV professional, you will provide strategic leadership, oversee department operations, and drive pharmacovigilance compliance, performance, and business growth. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced PV leader ready to shape regulatory strategy, manage international teams, and contribute to organizational success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Pharmacovigilance department, driving compliance, performance, and profitability.

  • Maintain an effective pharmacovigilance system in line with global regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as internal and external PV subject matter expert and thought leader.

  • Represent the team in senior leadership discussions and strategy sessions.

  • Build, coach, and manage a high-performing, motivated PV team.

  • Set and monitor performance goals aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development within the PV function.

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with health, safety, and legal policies.

  • Represent the company in external negotiations with clients and vendors.

  • Contribute to and execute a business development strategy for PV services.

  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration and global subsidiary alignment.

  • Act as public relations spokesperson and industry representative for PV matters.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven industry experience in pharmacovigilance or drug safety.

  • Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or related healthcare discipline.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on performance development.

  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Understanding of budgeting, finance, and commercial operations in PV.

  • Desirable: Eligibility to be named as a Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV).
