🎯 Role Purpose

The MSL program supports Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) who require in-depth, cutting-edge information to:

  • Treat patients

  • Conduct and design research

  • Educate colleagues and students

MSLs facilitate scientific exchange between the industry and the scientific community, providing unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date information, while also collecting strategic insights for Lilly’s research and commercialization efforts.


🧠 Primary Responsibilities

1. Scientific Knowledge

  • Continuously maintain technical expertise in the therapeutic area

  • Respond to diverse medical information needs

  • Establish self as a trusted, reliable scientific resource

2. Customer Engagement

  • Spend majority of time on customer-facing activities

  • Act as a primary interface between Lilly and SEs/CEs

  • Utilize emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and therapeutic knowledge

  • Connect SEs/CEs with internal Lilly resources and facilitate collaborative research

3. Territory Ownership

  • Conduct strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization

  • Implement and evaluate territory plans

  • Ensure compliant collaboration with other field roles

  • Use territory analytics for customer identification and routing

4. Strategic Vision & Leadership

  • Synthesize and communicate actionable clinical insights to cross-functional teams

  • Make sound judgment decisions and escalate issues when needed

  • Collaborate across functions and cultivate internal networks

  • Demonstrate Team Lilly Behaviors: Include, Innovate, Accelerate, Deliver

  • Execute role compliantly, adhering to laws, regulations, and company policies


🎓 Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years of relevant experience

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree considered with ≥5 years clinical, research, or industry experience

  • Field-based position: travel up to 80% and 4–6 weekends/year

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time

💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $145,500 – $213,400

  • Eligible for company bonus
