Role Overview:
The Associate Director – Dermatology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will serve as a field-based scientific expert and liaison between Lilly and key external stakeholders, including Scientific Experts (SEs) and Clinical Experts (CEs). The MSL will facilitate scientific exchange, provide clinical insights, and contribute to Lilly’s strategic research and commercialization goals within the dermatology therapeutic area.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scientific Knowledge & Expertise:

  • Maintain up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of dermatology therapeutic area, including Lilly and competitive compounds.

  • Respond to diverse medical information needs from healthcare providers and scientific stakeholders.

  • Establish credibility as a trusted source of accurate, unbiased, and timely medical and scientific information.

2. Customer Engagement:

  • Engage with SEs and CEs to deliver a positive customer experience and scientific insights.

  • Facilitate connections between external stakeholders and internal Lilly resources to support research collaborations.

  • Gather strategic insights from the field to inform Lilly’s scientific and business strategy.

3. Territory Ownership & Planning:

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan prioritizing core MSL activities.

  • Use analytics to identify key customers, optimize engagement, and ensure compliance with corporate policies.

  • Collaborate with field-based colleagues to coordinate coverage and maximize efficiency.

4. Strategic Leadership & Insights:

  • Synthesize and communicate actionable clinical and customer insights to internal teams.

  • Build strong internal networks across functions to support strategic decision-making.

  • Demonstrate agility, adaptability, and innovative problem-solving in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years relevant clinical or therapeutic experience OR

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in health sciences (BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with ≥5 years clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area.

  • U.S. work authorization and a valid driver’s license.

  • Field-based experience with willingness to travel up to 80% and work occasional weekends (4–6 per year).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dermatology therapeutic area experience strongly preferred.

  • Residency within the Kansas City metro area; coverage includes KS, MO, IA, and NE.

  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, advanced presentation, and literature identification capabilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills with high emotional intelligence.

  • Experience navigating health systems, academic communities, and medical education environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Anticipated salary: $151,500 – $244,200 (based on experience, skills, and location).
