Role Summary:

The Statistical Research and Innovation (SRI) role at Pfizer involves providing scientific consultancy and technical support for both global clinical and non-clinical projects. This position focuses on complex and novel study designs, statistical analysis, and development of specialized software to support drug and vaccine development. With limited managerial duties, the role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and mentorship to advance Pfizer's drug development efforts. You will also have the opportunity to influence regulatory and product defense strategies while contributing to scientific communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Statistical Consultation & Expertise:

    • Provide statistical advice on complex problems arising in Pfizer projects.
    • Collaborate across multiple therapeutic areas, offering consultation on statistical issues, including study designs, data analyses, and regulatory strategies.
  • Innovation & Methodology Development:

    • Lead the development and implementation of novel statistical methodologies and study designs based on state-of-the-art research.
    • Drive innovation in the use of advanced statistical/data science techniques for trial design and analysis.
  • Collaboration & External Influence:

    • Collaborate with internal teams (Clinical, Discovery, Development Operations, Medical Affairs, etc.) to ensure the application of statistical methods across various projects.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external organizations (academic, government, industry) to influence regulatory guidelines and knowledge generation.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Dissemination:

    • Support the dissemination of statistical knowledge, methodologies, and regulatory guidelines within Pfizer and externally.
    • Mentor junior statisticians and new hires, promoting professional development and knowledge-sharing.
  • Publications & Professional Activities:

    • Engage in scholarly activities including publishing research and presenting at conferences to share statistical advancements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide statistical advice and support for complex problems in drug development.
  • Contribute to discussions and decisions related to regulatory strategies, product defense, and publication planning.
  • Support the advancement of statistical methodologies through collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide consultation to the Statistics Leadership Team and Pfizer management.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research in statistical methodologies relevant to Pfizer's needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field with extensive statistical training.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in drug development (or exceptional methodology research credentials and potential for candidates with less experience).
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in statistical computing (R, SAS, etc.).
    • Proven ability to communicate complex statistical concepts clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Broad understanding of statistical theory and its practical applications.
    • A history of creative thinking and contributions to the field, demonstrated through publications and presentations.

  • Compensation:
    • Salary: $131,200 to $218,600 annually.
    • Bonus: Eligible for a 17.5% performance-based bonus.
