🎯 Role Purpose

The Associate Director – Biostatistics leads the statistical science function in Bangalore, providing:

  • Administrative direction, leadership, and process expertise

  • Oversight for portfolio deliverables, staffing, budgeting, and resource management

  • Coaching, mentoring, and staff development

  • Implementation of advanced analytics and next-generation drug development initiatives

This role ensures high-quality, timely delivery while building long-term competitive advantage through talent development and process efficiency.


🧠 Primary Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Delivery & Strategy

  • Develop a deep understanding of Lilly’s therapeutic areas

  • Lead cross-functional teams and act as scientific thought leader

  • Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of business unit portfolio

  • Assess resource demand, prioritize work, and resolve scope-related issues

  • Coordinate resource allocation for internal and outsourced projects

  • Partner with global leaders on clinical data execution decisions

  • Develop deep therapeutic expertise within the Bengaluru team

2. Statistical & Analytical Capabilities Development

  • Build technical capabilities across the Lilly Bengaluru statistics team

  • Develop strategies for advanced statistical capabilities

  • Foster therapeutic, scientific, and environmental expertise to meet business needs

  • Supervise direct reports and ensure high-quality hands-on statistical work

3. Enterprise Leadership

  • Demonstrate strong technical know-how, business acumen, and problem-solving

  • Represent Statistics, Data & Analytics at internal and external forums

  • Maintain awareness of global regulatory requirements (US, EU, Japan, China)

  • Serve as an external thought leader in statistics and industry trends

  • Ensure activities comply with laws, regulations, and best practices

  • Drive continuous improvement and shared learning across teams

4. People Management & Development

  • Provide technical leadership in developing future statistics leaders

  • Recruit, coach, and mentor Bengaluru talent within global teams

  • Build an inclusive and innovative organizational culture

  • Develop staff expertise in drug development, therapeutic science, and cross-functional leadership

  • Enable judgment-based decision-making and clinical delivery excellence


🎓 Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics/Biostatistics

  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience

  • Broad knowledge of drug development processes, industry requirements, and quality expectations
