Associate Director Biostatistics | Novartis | East Hanover, NJ

Job Summary

Novartis is hiring an experienced Associate Director, Biostatistics to lead statistical strategies across full drug development programs. Based in East Hanover, New Jersey, this on-site role offers an opportunity to influence critical decision-making across clinical trials, regulatory pathways, and product lifecycle management. This position is ideal for candidates with advanced knowledge in statistical methodologies and a strong track record in cross-functional pharmaceutical R&D environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic statistical input into development plans, regulatory submissions, publications, and pricing strategies.

  • Lead statistical analyses and provide consultation to cross-functional teams.

  • Implement innovative trial designs and advanced statistical models.

  • Collaborate with medical and scientific teams to optimize decision-making.

  • Drive quantitative strategies for early-to-late phase clinical programs.

  • Oversee resource allocation and ensure timely delivery of statistical deliverables.

  • Mentor and develop junior biostatisticians within the team.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field with 6+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years in pharma/biotech.

  • Expertise in statistical innovation, modeling, and trial design.

  • Proven leadership in cross-functional R&D teams.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and late-phase development.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in late-phase drug development.

  • Familiarity with regulatory interactions and health economics/statistical strategy.


Salary & Compensation

  • Salary Range: $145,600 – $270,400 per year (USD)

  • Includes: performance-based bonuses, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards
