Job Description:

Join Amgen as an Associate Biostatistical Programmer and be part of a global effort to transform healthcare. This is a hands-on programming role within the Center for Observational Research (CfOR), focused on producing high-quality statistical outputs to support real-world evidence (RWE) generation. You will be expected to write, test, validate, and execute programs using SAS and SQL while working closely with teams across multiple time zones.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate programs using SAS and SQL on Unix and Databricks environments

  • Generate analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures for regulatory submissions and publications

  • Collaborate globally to clarify project requirements and deliver results

  • Manage project programming activities and ensure compliance with department standards

  • Author and review programming plans, dataset specifications, and macros

  • Participate in system audits and provide responses to quality assurance findings

  • Contribute to internal initiatives and represent programming in project meetings

  • Support continuous improvement of programming practices and tools


Experience & Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant statistical or application programming experience

  • Proficiency in SAS and SQL is mandatory

  • Experience with R and Python preferred

  • Exposure to real-world data (RWD) and common data models like OMOP is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with global teams


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (0–3 years of experience) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Economics, or related fields

  • OR Diploma (4–7 years of experience) in the same disciplines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with RWD such as MarketScan, Optum, Medicare, EHR databases

  • Knowledge of the OMOP Common Data Model

  • Previous exposure to life sciences, healthcare analytics, or clinical research

  • Passion for learning and contributing to scientific excellence
