Internship Overview

This is a 12-week full-time summer internship based at Amgen’s new North Carolina FleX Batch facility in Holly Springs, one of the most advanced drug substance manufacturing plants in the industry.

You’ll contribute to strategic projects that impact Amgen’s Operations organization, which includes:

  • Supply Chain

  • Process Development

  • Manufacturing

  • Facilities & Engineering

  • Quality

Interns will engage in both project-based and experiential learning, while building relationships across the organization and developing professionally through:

  • Training sessions

  • Executive and peer networking events

  • One-on-one mentorship

  • Real-world project execution


Key Responsibilities

Internship responsibilities may include:

  • Support facility design and construction efforts for functional area projects

  • Conduct technical evaluations, analyze data, and present results and recommendations

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify problems, assess current state, and develop data-driven recommendations

  • Perform functional-specific tasks, such as:

    • Equipment design

    • Supply planning tool development

    • Operational readiness planning

  • Deliver presentations to senior leadership based on project outcomes

Assignments could span across any Operations subfunction, depending on business needs and candidate background.


Basic Qualifications

To be eligible for this internship, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Be currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university

  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate study prior to the internship

  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent

  • Be enrolled full-time after the internship ends

  • Be located in the United States for the duration of the internship

  • Not be employed at the start of the internship


Preferred Qualifications

  • Junior standing with expected graduation Summer 2027

  • Majors in Engineering, Biomanufacturing, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Supply Chain, or Human Resources

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Smartsheet

  • Knowledge of Excel VBA and SQL is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, project management, and communication skills

  • Proven initiative, adaptability, and organizational capabilities

  • Prior leadership experience (clubs, sports, academic groups, etc.)
