This role will oversee cardiovascular, bone, and inflammation therapeutic areas, shaping strategies that will maximize the value of Amgen’s portfolio and product pipeline.


What You Will Do

As the TA Head, you will be the single point of medical accountability for General Medicine Therapeutic Areas in South Korea. You will drive the development and execution of medical strategies, working with cross-functional teams to optimize Amgen’s value proposition of in-line and pipeline products. Your work will involve strategic planning, evidence generation, and lifecycle management, all while ensuring alignment with broader product/franchise strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute patient-focused medical strategies to enhance the value of Amgen’s therapies, from early-stage to late-stage product objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to shape the healthcare ecosystem, including evidence generation, communication, and education of the medical and economic value of Amgen’s products.
  • Provide strategic input into insights and ensure robust staff competency.
  • Strengthen external relationships with healthcare professionals, payers, societies, and industry associations for scientific exchange.
  • Lead medical evidence generation, ensuring alignment with product strategies and shaping medical practice.
  • Provide clinical oversight for product safety evaluations within the South Korean Gen Med therapeutic area.
  • Manage relationships with global and local regulatory affairs to ensure effective risk management and communication.
  • Manage the medical therapeutic area budget and resources.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop talent within the medical team.
  • Ensure all medical activities comply with local laws, regulations, and Amgen SOPs.
  • Lead the development of advocacy plans in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the creation of scientific and medical content for regulatory submissions, promotional activities, and internal/external communications.

Authority

  • Allocate resources and manage talent within the therapeutic area.
  • Approve medical strategies, including evidence generation, publications, and external communications.
  • Approve clinical content for local regulatory submissions and interactions.
  • Sign off on documents including plans, goals, SOPs, and contracts.
  • Manage the medical budget for the therapeutic area.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • At least 5 years of medical affairs or clinical development experience, with a minimum of 1+ year in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
  • 3 years of managerial experience, including leading teams, projects, or allocating resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to navigate complex organizational environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree or accredited fellowship in a respective product area.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in the relevant therapeutic area.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical product development, lifecycle management, and commercialization.
  • Expertise in regional medical practice and healthcare ecosystems.
  • Strong engagement and scientific exchange with the external medical community.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams in a complex, multi-functional matrix environment.
