Job Overview:
The Stat Programmer 2 provides advanced technical expertise to develop, maintain, and lead statistical programming efforts aligned with project needs. This role involves full-scope planning and implementation of statistical programming tasks, integrating data sources, developing process technologies, and contributing to team-wide technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming & Data Management:
Plan and execute programming, testing, and documentation for statistical tables, listings, and figures.
Program derived datasets (analysis databases) and handle internal and external data transfers.
Integrate databases from multiple studies or sources for comprehensive data analysis.
May perform and plan database quality control checks.
Documentation & Specifications:
Develop programming documentation such as programming plans and technical specifications.
Validate and maintain consistency across programming deliverables.
Technical Expertise & Development:
Provide advanced technical support to project teams and Statistical Programming departments.
Participate in the design and validation of new process technologies, applications, and macros.
Project Support & Leadership:
Serve as statistical programming team lead for single studies (under supervision).
Understand project Scope of Work (SoW), estimate completion levels, and manage any Out of Scope requirements.
May be involved in resource and budget forecasting and understand quote assumptions.
Mentorship & Training:
Offer guidance and training to junior or new statistical programmers.
Support knowledge sharing within the team and department.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
Experience & Skills:
Strong knowledge of statistics, statistical programming, and clinical drug development
Proficient in Base SAS, SAS/STAT, and SAS Macro Language
Effective organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize under pressure
High accuracy and keen attention to detail
Collaborative mindset with strong relationship management skills
