Job Overview
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Clinical Data Management (FSP) to lead global clinical data management operations within its Functional Service Provider (FSP) delivery model. This strategic leadership role involves managing global teams, overseeing clinical data management portfolios, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting complex clinical research programs.
The position offers an opportunity to collaborate with a globally recognized biopharmaceutical sponsor and contribute to high-impact clinical trials that accelerate drug development and improve patient outcomes worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and manage FSP clinical data management staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
Provide strategic coaching, mentoring, and leadership to project teams and direct reports.
Oversee employee performance evaluations, goal setting, and workforce planning.
Approve staffing decisions, salary administration, corrective actions, and employee engagement activities.
Review and approve time records, expense reports, and leave requests.
Operational Oversight and Project Delivery
Provide oversight and strategic direction to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality project delivery within budget.
Manage global resource allocation and workforce utilization across assigned portfolios.
Support operational activities for clinical studies with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and efficiency.
Collaborate with study managers and senior leadership to optimize data management processes.
Ensure staff adherence to regulatory guidelines, documented procedures, and organizational standards.
Process Development and Compliance
Participate in the development and implementation of clinical data management processes, procedures, and training programs.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, global SOPs, and client expectations.
Maintain strict confidentiality of clinical and proprietary client data.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance.
Strategic Collaboration and Client Engagement
Partner with global leadership to support training initiatives and operational strategies.
Contribute to global resourcing reporting and long-term workforce planning.
Collaborate with a dedicated FSP client’s global data science and clinical operations teams.
Support high-visibility clinical initiatives within a mature FSP delivery environment focused on quality and partnership.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Clinical Research, or a related discipline.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant professional experience may be considered.
Experience Required
Minimum 12+ years of experience in Clinical Data Management.
At least 5+ years of leadership experience managing global teams or large project groups.
Strong experience working within the Functional Service Provider (FSP) business model.
Proven experience managing clinical trial data management portfolios and operational processes.
