Role Overview

The Sr. Director – Global Patient Safety (GPS) Data Sciences will provide strategic and personnel leadership for GPS systems, technology, automation, and data reporting/analytics initiatives. This role requires a visionary leader who can integrate business needs, implement cutting-edge technology solutions, and drive analytics strategies across GPS, Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL), IT, and other related functions.

The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to enhance drug safety monitoring, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency, while building and mentoring a high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership of GPS Data Sciences Team

  • Manage operating priorities, resource allocation, and team performance.

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent, ensuring career development and recognition.

  • Foster deep technical expertise within the team through training and skill development.

  • Oversee business planning and target management for team objectives.

Technology & Analytics Strategy

  • Own GPS automation, technology, and analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

  • Benchmark process efficiency and data insights against industry best practices and implement improvements.

  • Build technical capabilities to support the GPS future state and operational excellence.

  • Collaborate with IT, Clinical, Statistics, and Quality teams to develop and implement robust systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with leaders across GPS globally to assess needs, align solutions, and ensure consistency.

  • Influence internal and external stakeholders to adopt GPS strategies and share insights.

  • Develop strategic partnerships across the organization to leverage learnings and resources.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety Assurance

  • Maintain and enhance safety systems to ensure full regulatory compliance.

  • Provide training and guidance on regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.

  • Support internal and external inspections through planning and coordination.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years experience in drug development support areas (Safety, Clinical, Project Management, IT).

  • 5+ years of people management experience.

  • 2+ years experience in Pharmacovigilance.

  • Experience implementing small and large-scale systems/technology projects.


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in systems ownership and implementation.

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional change.

  • Experience applying process automation and analytics in complex environments.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and management capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural, virtual environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Proficiency with office software and digital tools.

  • Willingness to travel as required (50%+ if remote).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $151,500 – $222,200 (dependent on experience, education, and location)
