Medtronic is currently seeking a Sr Clinical Database Development Specialist to support the development and management of clinical study databases and clinical data systems used in global clinical trials.

Experience Required
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in clinical database development, clinical data management, or clinical data systems with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, document, test, and maintain clinical study databases and configure cross-system interfaces according to business processes and clinical study requirements.

Support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of clinical reports, clinical data transfers, and other components related to clinical studies.

Apply industry standards and best practices while developing and managing clinical databases.

Act as a clinical technical specialist during the planning, design, and implementation of clinical applications.

Provide technical consultation and task direction to external vendors involved in clinical database development and related systems.

Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing within the clinical data management team.

Manage project-related tasks including timelines, milestone tracking, progress communication, issue resolution, and budget monitoring.

Stay updated with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices within the clinical data management industry.

Ensure compliance with all assigned Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality requirements relevant to the role.

Technical Skills and Knowledge
Strong expertise in clinical electronic data capture systems such as Medidata Rave.

Experience working with clinical trial management systems and clinical data workflows.

Good understanding of SQL and advanced query development.

Hands-on experience with Rave Custom Functions and clinical database configuration.

Ability to manage both detailed technical database work and broader clinical data system processes.

This role is part of the Specialist Career Stream where professionals contribute specialized expertise in clinical data systems while delivering and managing projects from design through implementation. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including clinical operations, data management, and technical teams.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, Clinical Data Management, or a related discipline.

Minimum 7 years of experience in clinical database development or clinical data management, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.

Experience working with electronic data capture systems and clinical trial databases.

Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

Ability to mentor junior professionals and work collaboratively across teams.

Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
