Job Summary:

The Technical Assembler is responsible for the assembly, testing, decommissioning, and/or destruction of video capture kits, tools, laboratory supplies, and study-specific components. This role ensures that all activities meet company and regulatory standards for accuracy, safety, security, quality, and productivity.


Key Responsibilities:

Assembly and Quality Testing

  • Follow detailed assembly instructions to assemble laptops and associated components for Video Capture Kits.

  • Load software and test for proper operation and image transmission according to SOPs and Work Instructions.

  • Assemble study-specific materials, install software, and test for correct operation in line with SOPs and protocols.

  • Perform routine quality testing and troubleshooting, adhering to standard work instructions.

  • Report issues with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to the supervisor for further troubleshooting.

  • Complete all necessary administrative functions relating to business or regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain supplies inventory, check adequacy of supplies, anticipate future needs, and report inventory requirements to the supervisor.

  • Complete decommissioning activities, including product reuse, recycling, or destruction, and document status according to SOPs and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate assembly functions.

  • Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety regulations and report unsafe conditions.

Inventory Control and Troubleshooting

  • Collaborate with the Team Lead and Senior Technical Assembler to maintain and monitor raw and staged inventory.

  • Ensure adequate stock levels, initiate orders when necessary, and perform periodic inventory checks.

  • Perform quality control checks on raw materials and assembled kits to ensure completeness and functionality.

  • Monitor and report on product testing, including new, used, or defective equipment, to identify trends.

  • Partner with the Team Lead and Senior Technical Assembler to manage routine inventory monitoring and reports to the Manager, Logistics, and Finance.

Facilities and Staff Support:

  • Sign vendors in and out of the building as needed.

  • Perform other facilities-related tasks as required.


Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.

  • A post-secondary certificate or diploma (College, Training Institute, etc.) is preferred.

  • Familiarity with computer setup and components is an asset.

  • Experience using an ERP for inventory management, purchasing, and receiving is a plus.


Working Conditions:

  • Some repetitive tasks.

  • Occasional standing for long periods.

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

  • Exposure to chemicals (e.g., cleaning chemicals, leaking batteries) and sharp objects (e.g., box cutters, crushed hard drives), requiring safety gloves and goggles.
