The Opportunity:

Abbott is seeking a Senior Facilities Technician to join the medical devices team at our St. Paul, MN location. This role will support facilities maintenance, focusing on production equipment and systems, with working hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The Senior Facilities Technician will be responsible for maintaining mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on all production and facilities equipment, including cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and calibrating machinery.
  • Install and maintain production equipment and repair building systems like walls, ceilings, and plumbing.
  • Repair electrical systems such as compressors, hydraulic pumps, and HVAC.
  • Assist in the establishment and execution of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Train less experienced employees and maintain licenses and certifications.
  • Resolve maintenance issues, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee waste treatment operations and provide support during after-hours emergencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, trade school certification, or formal apprenticeship.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems (single and three-phase), plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with data center maintenance and HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and unforeseen events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and respond to after-hours call-ins.

Compensation:

  • The base pay for this position is $23.25 – $46.45 per hour, depending on experience and location.
