Position Overview:

Lilly’s Global Statistical Sciences (GSS) function is establishing and expanding its statistical capabilities in the Lilly Capability Center India (LCCI), located in Bangalore, to support global R&D functions. We are seeking a Senior/Director - Biostatistics to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for GSS at LCCI. The role involves collaborating with GSS leadership to develop and implement global strategies for statistical deliverables across Lilly’s portfolio. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, fostering team engagement, and driving efficiency within LCCI and across GSS.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Enabling GSS Deliverables:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the GSS function at LCCI.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and contribute to the development of business strategies to influence global R&D outcomes.
  • Collaborate with GSS leadership and local teams to forecast, plan, and manage resources for timely project delivery.
  • Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement within LCCI to meet evolving business demands and global therapeutic area deliverables.

2. Statistical and Analytical Capabilities Development:

  • Supervise and develop technical expertise within the LCCI team, ensuring high-quality statistical methods and analyses.
  • Establish strategies to build and enhance advanced statistical capabilities and expertise within the team.
  • Foster deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge, ensuring the team is aligned with business needs and proactively addressing scientific questions.
  • Promote collaboration with academic and professional external organizations to advance statistical knowledge and innovation.

3. Site Leadership and Partnership:

  • Drive strong partnerships with Site Leadership, LRL, and other functional groups to ensure the effectiveness of site strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the GSS team at other Lilly sites (e.g., Cork) to drive efficiency and continuous improvement across global operations.

4. Enterprise Leadership:

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, problem-solving abilities, and agility in adjusting to changing business priorities.
  • Represent GSS at internal and external venues and maintain awareness of industry trends through external collaborations and professional organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, laws, and regulations in all activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement of key performance metrics and foster shared learning across teams.

5. People Management and Development:

  • Lead and develop a diverse team of statistical professionals, recruiting, retaining, and nurturing talent.
  • Create an agile, high-performance team culture that adapts to the changing needs of the business.
  • Cultivate a work environment that fosters inclusion, innovation, and professional development, ensuring team members grow in their expertise in drug development, therapeutic science, strategic thinking, and leadership.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of industry experience in biostatistics.
  • At least 7 years of supervisory experience, with a preference for 5 years of leadership experience overseeing other leaders.

Skills and Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of the drug development process, including industry requirements and quality expectations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies across people, processes, organizations, and technology.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across matrixed global organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all audiences and forums.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on offering creative solutions and strategies.

  • Minimal travel (10%).
