Role Summary:

Pfizer’s Analytical Research and Development (ARD) team within the Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule group is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to join their dynamic and innovative group. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of Pharmaceutical Sciences R&D by implementing automation, robotics, and digital processes. You will be pivotal in developing and deploying automation systems and tools that support the analytical measurement science in drug development, contributing to the speed and success of Pfizer's R&D pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automated System Development:

    • Work closely with laboratory scientists to design and implement automated systems, robotics, and digital workstreams to improve laboratory operations and enhance R&D efficiency.
    • Program automated systems and software tools, integrating analytical instrumentation with proprietary software and database services.
  • Data Management and Integration:

    • Provide scientists with digital tools to access, extract, and visualize diverse data sources, linking disparate informatics systems to enhance data management.
    • Enable the integration of predictive modeling, simulation, AI, and ML capabilities into laboratory operations.
  • Collaboration and Influence:

    • Partner with a matrix of analytical chemists, automation experts, data scientists, and programmers, both within and outside of Pfizer.
    • Interact with and influence colleagues at all levels, ensuring alignment and effective implementation of automation solutions across various functions.
  • Innovation and Growth:

    • Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and accelerate scientific and business workflows.
    • Mentor peers and engage with senior leadership to create innovative ways of working and advance the efficiency of Pfizer’s analytical development.

Skills and Experience:

  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, C#, and SQL for automation and control is strongly desired.
  • Automation and Data Science: Experience in instrument control, laboratory automation, and applying data science concepts to improve workflows.
  • Laboratory Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on automation or computer science.
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Sciences: Understanding of analytical instrumentation and familiarity with pharmaceutical laboratory activities is preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience developing automated laboratory processes from concept to implementation.
  • Knowledge of complex informatics systems and the ability to structure data for effective analysis and decision-making.
  • Ability to extract, collate, and interrogate diverse data sources for analysis and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BSc in a STEM subject with at least 3 years of experience in laboratory automation or computer science.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $64,600 to $107,600 annually, depending on experience.
  • Bonus: Eligible for a 7.5% performance-based bonus.
