About the Team: Antibody Team

The Antibody Team is focused on engineering and developing antibodies, emphasizing reagent quality and specificity. Core activities include designing, developing, purifying, conjugating, and testing antibodies for various immunoassay applications using innovative tools and technologies. The team's goal is advanced product development and creating product-specific information to promote research use.


Role & Responsibilities

Purpose:
The Scientist III will be a key member of the molecular biology and sequencing core facility, advancing molecular biology techniques to enable high-throughput recombinant antibody platforms. The role requires leading the molecular biology team, mentoring junior scientists, and collaborating across teams to drive innovation in antibody development.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform antibody development and testing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead the development of next-generation methodologies, vector improvements, and cloning strategies for high-throughput workflows in recombinant antibody platforms.
  • Provide informal leadership of a team of scientists in a matrix-style operation, offering technical and operational supervision.
  • Mentor and train junior scientists in research, experimental design, data interpretation, and presentation.
  • Conceptualize and drive successful protocols for transfer to operational teams.
  • Act as an authority in molecular biology, sequencing, and antibody development, providing input and guidance to drive innovation and cross-team collaborations.
  • Partner with supporting functions such as product management, program management, and business development to meet program goals.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • PhD with 4-5 years of experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 5-10 years of experience
  • Minimum 3-4 years of industrial experience required.
  • Degree in a relevant life sciences field with a strong focus on molecular biology, sequencing technologies, and antibody development technologies.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Extensive experience in antibody development and engineering, including hybridoma, display technologies, single B cell, and other antibody platforms.
  • Broad knowledge in molecular biology, vector design, next-generation cloning, miniaturization strategies for high-throughput gene-to-protein workflows, Sanger and next-generation sequencing technologies, antibody sequencing, and protein/antibody design/engineering.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Proven track record in establishing new protocols and workflows.
  • Experience leading core facilities for molecular biology or sequencing is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring and leading teams, with or without direct reporting structure.
  • Peer-reviewed publications with post-doctoral experience and a strong independent understanding of emerging trends in the field are preferred.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and statistical software such as Prism.
