Department Overview – Antibody Development Team

The Antibody Development Team focuses on the design, engineering, purification, conjugation, and validation of high-quality antibodies for advanced immunoassay and research applications. The team leverages cutting-edge molecular biology and sequencing technologies to develop next-generation recombinant antibody platforms.


Role Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly experienced Scientist III – Molecular Biology to join its Antibody Development team in Bangalore. This onsite role involves leading advanced molecular biology initiatives to support high-throughput recombinant antibody development while mentoring scientists and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and lead molecular biology workflows supporting antibody development and testing in a fast-paced research environment

  • Develop next-generation cloning strategies, vector designs, and high-throughput gene-to-protein workflows

  • Advance molecular biology and sequencing core facility capabilities to support recombinant antibody platforms

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior scientists in experimental design, execution, and data interpretation

  • Drive development and optimization of protocols for seamless transfer to operational teams

  • Act as a subject matter expert in molecular biology, sequencing technologies, and antibody engineering

  • Collaborate with product management, program management, operations, and business development teams to achieve project milestones

  • Support innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous process improvement


Required Education and Experience

  • PhD in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline with 4–5 years of relevant experience, OR

  • Master’s degree with 5–10 years of relevant experience

  • Minimum 3–4 years of industrial experience in molecular biology or antibody development

  • Strong academic background in advanced molecular biology, sequencing technologies, and antibody engineering


Technical Expertise Required

  • Extensive experience in antibody engineering platforms including hybridoma, display technologies, and single B-cell approaches

  • Strong knowledge of molecular cloning, vector design, high-throughput cloning strategies, and gene expression workflows

  • Hands-on experience with Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and antibody sequencing

  • Proven ability to establish new protocols, workflows, and scalable methodologies

  • Experience leading molecular biology or sequencing core facilities is preferred

  • Demonstrated mentoring or leadership experience in a matrixed research environment

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills


Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical tools such as Prism

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, research-driven environment

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player
