Job Overview
The Scientist II – Protein Biology role is a mid-level research position within the antibody development team, focused on antibody engineering, molecular biology, and protein biology applications. The position involves leading antibody development workflows, providing scientific expertise, and contributing to innovative research programs that support product development and research applications.

The role requires strong experience in immunology, molecular biology, and protein research, with responsibilities including experimental design, data analysis, and cross-functional scientific collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Antibody and Protein Research

  • Contribute to antibody engineering and development programs using advanced molecular, protein, and cell biology techniques.

  • Provide scientific input and technical expertise in antibody development using recombinant DNA technology.

  • Lead research workflows and projects related to new antibody development initiatives.

  • Design experiments, execute laboratory studies, analyze data, and present research findings.

  • Support product development activities by ensuring high standards of reagent quality and performance.

Scientific Leadership and Innovation

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in immunology and cell sorting technologies.

  • Provide technical guidance and collaborate with cross-functional research teams.

  • Drive innovation by applying expertise in molecular biology and protein biology.

  • Author and optimize standard operating procedures and research protocols.

  • Identify deviations from expected outcomes and implement corrective scientific approaches.

  • Provide technical troubleshooting to resolve complex scientific challenges.

Laboratory and Technical Activities

  • Perform cell analysis techniques including flow cytometry, imaging, and Western blotting.

  • Execute molecular biology workflows such as high-throughput cloning, plasmid construction, PCR, restriction digestion, ligation, transformation, and sequencing.

  • Process tissues and isolate mammalian cells including PBMCs and mouse splenocytes.

  • Support protein biology activities including antigen design, protein expression, purification, and conjugation.

  • Apply monoclonal antibody development technologies such as single B cell sorting, phage display, or recombinant methods.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of experimental results and research activities.

Experience Required

  • Master’s degree with more than 5 years of relevant industry or research experience, or PhD with at least 2 years of relevant experience in life sciences.

  • Strong specialization in immunology, molecular biology, protein biology, biotechnology, or related disciplines.

  • Hands-on experience in antibody development and molecular biology workflows.

  • Experience with cell analysis techniques such as flow cytometry and cell sorting.

  • Experience in monoclonal antibody development technologies is advantageous.

  • Prior experience in scientific publication or research documentation is preferred.

Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Life Sciences, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Protein Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of immunology, protein biology, and antibody engineering techniques.

  • Expertise in experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific analysis.

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as GraphPad Prism and proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting and presentations.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
