Job Summary:

Novo Nordisk is seeking a talented Scientist II – Oligonucleotide Medicinal Chemistry for its cutting-edge Global Nucleic Acid Therapies division in Lexington, USA. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to novel RNA and gene therapies, working on oligonucleotide synthesis and drug delivery platform innovations. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, fast-paced biotech environment focused on revolutionizing genetic medicines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis for novel target compounds.

  • Propose new target molecules by reviewing scientific literature and patents.

  • Independently develop research projects supporting siRNA delivery platforms.

  • Operate and maintain HPLC and LCMS for compound analysis and purification.

  • Lead internal and external chemists' research efforts as needed.

  • Present research outcomes in departmental and cross-functional meetings.

  • Plan in vitro and in vivo experiments collaboratively to optimize drug delivery.

  • Aid in drafting intellectual property, publications, and strategic project plans.

  • Contribute to scientific presentations and publications alongside peers.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • BS/BA with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years, or PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Expertise in modern organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and complex molecule development.

  • Strong background in analytical and purification techniques.

  • Excellent data analysis and project planning abilities.

  • Self-driven, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Preferred: experience in oligonucleotide chemistry, heterocyclic synthesis, bio-conjugation, or medicinal chemistry.
