Role Overview:

The Scientific Education Manager is responsible for ensuring the content quality, balance, and scientific depth of Novartis' medical-scientific educational programs (CME). This role involves developing innovative education concepts and implementing them in collaboration with business teams. The position is part of the Medical Engagement Team and reports directly to the Head of Medical Academy.


Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Education & Content Development:

  • Review and approve educational content to ensure compliance with scientific standards, non-promotional guidelines, and the German Drug Advertising Act (HWG).
  • Organize, conduct, and moderate the Scientific Advisory Board for the Medical Academy.
  • Collaborate with Medical Units and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to develop new educational programs.
  • Oversee and manage vendors/agencies, including budget responsibility.
  • Develop virtual education formats and implement them on Novartis.pro or other educational platforms.
  • Review and provide feedback on speaker presentations for all educational programs.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Strategic Input:

  • Work closely with Therapeutic Area Heads and Medical Units to align educational initiatives with company strategy.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of educational programs by setting key scientific and marketing-oriented directions.
  • Present scientific content effectively to different audiences.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Language Skills:

  • University degree in Natural Sciences, Medicine, or Pharmacy (preferably with a PhD).
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).

Professional Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience (e.g., as a Medical Advisor or in scientific pharmaceutical sales – medical or commercial).
  • Experience in developing scientific education programs (various formats, including digital and in-person), particularly CME (Continuing Medical Education).
  • Strong scientific curiosity with a strategic mindset in education development.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and highly responsible with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a networked environment.
