Job Summary

The Medical Coding Analyst is responsible for reviewing medical records, applying appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes, and ensuring compliance with AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines. This role supports regulatory and client requirements, maintaining high accuracy and confidentiality of patient records.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement updates from AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines.

  • Review and analyze medical records; add or modify CPT codes for minor surgical procedures, vaccines, and laboratory procedures.

  • Extract and code screening CPT codes and HCPCS codes accurately.

  • Check NCCI edits, LCD & NCD coverage determinations, and modify ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes, and modifiers as needed.

  • Work collaboratively in a large team, contributing to quality and productivity improvements.

  • Organize and prioritize work to ensure coding and edits are completed within compliance timelines.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies for patient record security.

  • Comply with company policies regarding flexibility, team assignments, work shifts, and data security protocols.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate in Life Sciences.

  • Certification: Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC). Proof of certification required during interview/offer process.

  • Experience: 0.6 – 5 years in medical coding (Freshers considered).

  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • Medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.

    • ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.

    • Understanding of system security policies and data protection.

    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
