Research Scientist - Health Economics and Modelling

Work Schedule: Standard (Mon-Fri)
Environmental Conditions: Office

Job Description:
Join our multidisciplinary Modelling and Simulation team, where we design and implement health economic models that analyze complex medical processes, demonstrating the value of interventions, assessing risks, benefits, and economic consequences. We specialize in cost-effectiveness analyses of healthcare interventions and have expertise in creating simulation models such as discrete event simulations, decision trees, Markov models, and individual state-transition models.

As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for leading independent projects as the principal investigator, overseeing all aspects of project delivery, and managing mid-level and junior staff. You will be instrumental in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of health economic models to conduct cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced health economic models for healthcare interventions.
  • Serve as the scientific lead for the project, providing strategic consultation and ensuring the use of best methods for research needs.
  • Oversee and participate in a large project portfolio, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scientifically valid results.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, contributing to business development.
  • Lead proposal writing and secure new sales.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and scope, ensuring the successful completion of studies and project deliverables.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance to other principal investigators.
  • Drive "non-billable" activities, such as conceptualizing approaches for proposals and pursuing new business opportunities.

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Biostatistics, or a related field, with 7–10 years of relevant industry or consulting experience.
  • Proven record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for modeling; experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Extensive experience in health economics and the development of models suitable for submission to Health Technology Assessment groups or for reimbursement decisions.
  • Advanced understanding of relevant methodology, statistics, and research implementation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in leading global cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Personal Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and senior management.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in line management, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and supporting staff development.
  • Competence in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
