Key Responsibilities:

  1. Computational Expertise:

    • Develop, validate, and implement innovative computational approaches to improve research productivity and success.
    • Contribute computational strategies to inform decisions related to compound design, potency, selectivity, and improving ADME/Tox (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) endpoints.
  2. Team Leadership:

    • Build and lead a team of computational chemists, driving high productivity levels.
    • Provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective decision-making and fostering collaboration across various scientific disciplines.
  3. Drug Discovery:

    • Work on progressing drug discovery projects from hits to clinical leads.
    • Provide key input into project teams, influencing and prioritizing compound designs based on computational strategies.
    • Integrate emerging AI methods, machine learning, and other advanced computational chemistry techniques into the drug discovery process.
  4. Technical Proficiency:

    • Utilize a variety of computational tools and methodologies, including molecular docking, virtual screening, molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, cheminformatics, machine learning, and data mining.
    • Stay updated on the latest computational chemistry tools and software, ensuring the application of cutting-edge technologies in drug discovery.
  5. External Networking:

    • Network with renowned researchers in computational chemistry and AI to stay at the forefront of innovations in drug discovery.

Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 6 years of industry experience in pharma or biotech, specifically in drug discovery.
    • Demonstrated impact in progressing drug discovery projects, from hit identification to clinical leads.
    • Extensive experience with computational chemistry tools and techniques, and proficiency in using state-of-the-art software for drug discovery.
    • Experience integrating machine learning and AI methods into computational chemistry workflows.
