Research Associate – Synthetic Chemistry & Drug Discovery (DDS)

Job Overview
Syngene International Ltd. is seeking a Research Associate to support synthetic chemistry and early-stage drug discovery programs. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, including chemical synthesis, purification, and analytical coordination, along with strict adherence to safety, quality, and data integrity standards. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary projects, including immuno-oncology research.

Experience Required
0–2 years of relevant experience in synthetic chemistry, laboratory research, or pharmaceutical R&D (fresh MSc graduates with strong practical exposure may also be considered).

Key Responsibilities
Perform organic synthesis reactions, workups, and purification using techniques such as column chromatography, crystallization, recrystallization, and preparative TLC
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure proper calibration, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance
Coordinate sample analysis, document results, and update supervisors on experimental progress
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of experiments, observations, and resource utilization in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems
Ensure safe handling of chemicals by understanding MSDS guidelines and following emergency response procedures
Adhere to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards, including proper waste segregation and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Prepare and update SOPs, IOPs, EOPs, and OCPs for new or revised laboratory processes
Support independent or collaborative research projects, including assay development and experimental design in specialized domains such as immuno-oncology
Compile experimental data, prepare study reports, and present findings to internal teams
Collaborate with cross-functional research teams and mentor junior staff when required
Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with company data integrity and quality policies

Educational Qualification
MSc in Chemical Sciences or a related discipline

Technical Skills
Strong understanding of organic synthesis and reaction mechanisms
Hands-on experience with purification and analytical techniques
Familiarity with laboratory instruments and equipment handling
Knowledge of analytical data interpretation
Understanding of GxP, EHS, and data integrity practices
