🔬 Position Overview

As a Research Associate in the Personalized Healthcare (PHCS) Assay Development Team, you will:

  • Conduct research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experiments to support Ventana projects.

  • Work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment, applying scientific and technical expertise to support project strategies.

  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments, prepare scientific documentation, and participate in cross-functional product characterization studies.

Preferred: Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., in vitro diagnostics) and knowledge of GMP, GLP, and Design Control procedures.


🎯 Key Responsibilities

Experimental & Research Work

  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols with minimal supervision.

  • Design methods and solutions for diverse, complex scientific challenges.

  • Conduct and analyze bench experiments, maintaining precise records and detailed observations.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, summaries, and data analyses to project teams.

Process & Quality Improvement

  • Recommend and implement workflow and laboratory improvements.

  • Apply sound judgment to select methods and techniques within defined policies.

  • Participate in failure investigations and contribute to process refinements.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a productive and collaborative team member within cross-functional teams.

  • Train and mentor colleagues in areas of expertise.

  • Troubleshoot challenges, apply corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Roche quality standards.

  • Promote a continuous improvement and “Quality First Time” mindset.


👩‍🔬 Who You Are

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant job experience.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of assay development within regulated industries.

  • Experience with VENTANA automated slide stainers.

  • Proficient in basic and specialized laboratory techniques.

  • Ability to research and interpret scientific literature effectively.

  • Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data presentation tools.


💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Location: Tucson, Arizona

  • Salary Range: $57,000 – $81,400 USD annually

  • Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

  • Benefits: Eligible for full Roche benefits package (see official Roche site for details).

  • Relocation: Not available for this position.
